What is an Audio Drama? How does it differ from Audiobooks?

Audio dramas stand out for their scripted fictional narratives, character portrayals by voice actors, and the use of sound effects and music to create a rich, immersive experience for listeners. It is intended to feel like you are in a film, with the dialogue and sounds carrying the story, rather than relying on narration. Audiobooks on the other hand are read aloud generally with only one or two narrators, often deliberately not distracting from the text to allow listeners to use their imaginations to fill in the details.

Do you accept script submissions from writers?

Yes, we do accept book submissions for works in the Dystopian Scifi and Fantasy Genres. We are interested both in works to publish as In-House Productions that will be purchased outright, and submissions intended as Audio Dramas for clients. Please contact us directly if you are interested in submitting a project.

What equipment, programs, and software do you use for recording and editing?

We rely heavily on Adobe's Creative Cloud, primarily Adobe Audition 2023. In addition we use Warm Audio WA-47Jr Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphones for studio Voice Talent, a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen, iZotope RX 10, and Clarity VX. Currently we use AI programs such as ElevenLabs, ChatGPT, and PlayHT. We're grateful for platforms such as Pixabay, that make music, artists, and sound effects more accessible.

How long does it take to produce an audio drama?

The time it takes to produce an audio drama can vary widely depending on factors like script complexity, post-production requirements, and the production team's experience. It can range from weeks to months per episode. We average 4 to 6 weeks for a 40,000 word story.

Can I collaborate with your production house on a project?

Yes! We are thrilled to be collaborating with writers, musicians, voice talent, and other extraordinary artists. Please inquire directly with our production house team about potential collaborations.

Can I audition for your productions?

Please do! We host open auditions on Tiktok and Instagram.
AFP accepts all skill levels and voice types and are regularly looking for voices for upcoming productions.
